Critical Illness Benefit
Where a member suffers from a Critical Illness Benefit, the member is entitled to a benefit from their member’s compulsory account. The member may elect to receive the benefit in a single lump sum or claim a lesser amount and claim again at a future time or times provided the combined total of the claim does not exceed $5,000 (or such other maximum amount as determined by the Board from time to time).
A certificate of assessment of diagnosis by a Cook Islands Ministry of Health Medical Practitioner is required that the Member suffers from a Critical Illness which requires the Member to obtain specialist treatment that is not available in the Cook Islands.
